Humid climate causes floor deformation

Choose materials with good moisture-proof properties (such as laminate flooring, or solid wood flooring that has been treated with anti-corrosion).

Make sure the ground is completely dry before laying and use a moisture-proof mat (such as PE film or aluminum foil mat).

Keep the room ventilated before and after construction, and use a dehumidifier if necessary.
Floor hollowing or warping

Use self-leveling cement to level the ground before laying, and the flatness error should be controlled within 3mm/2m.

Use high-viscosity floor glue (such as polyurethane glue) and adopt full glue sticking method (especially suitable for engineered floors).

Leave room for expansion (8-12mm) to avoid thermal expansion and contraction.

Problem: Glue stains left on old tiles or flooring affect the installation of new flooring.

Use a professional sander to remove residual glue, or lay a thin layer of plywood (9-12mm) as a transition layer.

If the old floor tiles are flat, SPC interlocking flooring can be laid directly on them (without removal).

Solid wood flooring: May be fixed with nails or glue, nails need to be pried up and glue needs to be cut.

Composite flooring/laminate: Usually snap-on design, easier to remove starting from the edge. Tiles/Stones: Use cement mortar to stick, and use an electric hammer or chisel to damage the base.

PVC floor: It may be glued or floated. If it is glued, use a scraper to remove the residual glue.
Difficulty removing old floors

Acceptance criteria: Check with a 2-meter ruler, gap ≤ 3mm; no abnormal noise when walking.

Maintenance Tips: Clean regularly with a slightly damp mop to avoid large amounts of water stagnation.

Note on regulations: For buildings over 30 m2, materials with a fire resistance rating of B1 or above must be used (according to the Hong Kong Building Ordinance).
